Community Outreach

I think it is incredibly important to share what we do in science with our community. Not only does it help develop the ability to communicate well, but it fosters healthy community engagement in the sciences. Listen here as my colleague and I talk with musky fishermen about our work on Chautauqua Lake (October 2020).

Travel

I love any excuse to travel and see the natural wonders of the word! From backpacking in the Himalayas, to feeling the mist of Victoria Falls, to climbing at Devil's Lake, I have a love for the world around me and enjoy the constant exploration.

Amphibians

In my opinion, amphibians are possibly the cutest class of organism and this initial love for amphibians is one of the reasons I started into a research field! More importantly, however, where amphibians occur, most terrestrial and freshwater habitats, they often dominate the overall biomass of the ecosystem. As such, they are a crucial component of many systems. Unfortunately, they are also currently in rapid decline due primarily to anthropogenic stressors that we do not fully understand.
